The Uniting Neighbors program encourages individuals from different ethnic, religious, political, and cultural backgrounds to contribute their abilities to help meet the challenges within their own neighborhoods. Neighborhood coordinators throughout most cities in the county have been trained on emergency preparedness, which has helped neighborhoods become closer and develop a safety net for families.
We seek to celebrate our similarities in order to provide a common ground for healthy unity. We believe Davis and Morgan Counties are rich in diverse people, resources, ideas, hopes, capabilities, and heritage. We work to help build a community where all viewpoints are acknowledged and valued—a community where neighbors watch out for each other and prepare for unforeseen emergencies.
We support the Community of Promise concepts, which include:
- A caring adult in the life of every child
- A safe place to live
- Children having a healthy start in life
- Our youth developing marketable skills
- The availability of service opportunities
We invite everyone in Davis and Morgan Counties to join us, person to person, neighborhood to neighborhood, business to business, in bringing together all people for common good.
There are many opportunities for service to your fellow citizens. We need volunteers to coordinate every level of the Uniting Neighbors program: neighborhood, area, district, and city. We also need volunteer tax preparers for the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which, in the 2007 tax year brought refunds of over $850,000 to Davis County citizens.
If you can help your neighbors and your city with any of these efforts, please call the Family Connection Center at (801) 773-0712 for more information.
